Paul Stirling and Clare Shillington took the international Player of the Year accolades at the Cricket Ireland Awards at Mansion House Dublin.
Donemana were named the Tildenet Club of the Year at this year’s cricket Ireland awards 2012. Tildenet the official suppliers to Cricket Ireland, were pleased to present the Club of the Year with a trophy and new Tildenet cricket equipment of their choice worth one thousand pounds.
Donemana’s magnificent campaign saw the club pick up four trophies in the North West, giving them an enviable reputation as a producer of talent. The clubs senior team completed a domestic treble and the Under 15’s won the All Ireland Cup. Captain Richard Kee won the biggest cheer of the night for revealing the secret of his clubs success: “There’s no point trying to coach players. They’re either good or they’re not – fact!”
Joe Downey, Chairman of Tildenet presented the club of the year award to Donemana’s Captain. “Cricket Ireland is going from strength to strength and we are pleased to be part of it” said Mr Downey. “Organised cricket is now played in thirty counties across the island of Ireland. Cricket Irelands aim is to become a test nation by 2020 which would be a fine achievement for Ireland and a great benefit to the game of cricket as a whole” adds Mr Downey.
